MAS
Air Systems, LLC, is a full service fan manufacturer with a complete spectrum
of centrifugal fan designs and a specialized line of high temperature axial
propeller fans. Although we offer “standard
fan lines”, we are most competitive in custom fan applications involving high
temperature, corrosion, alloy construction, erosion, gas tight construction,
high tip speeds or special configurations.
MAS is very skilled in repair and retrofitting of our own or competitors
equipment.
Our
staff has over thirty years of design, engineering and manufacturing experience
in the fan and steel fabricating industries.
Our expertise, size and facilities allow us to manufacture quality fan
equipment at competitive prices to meet your custom needs and deliveries.
MAS
was founded in 1986 by Gary Miller after leaving the position of Chief Engineer
at Robinson Industries. During the
early stages MAS worked directly with the research departments of several fan
companies, developing as well as upgrading fan designs in AMCA approved labs.
Between 1986 and 1988 considerable effort was put toward the development
of computer programs, fan designs and standards that was the groundwork for our
present day company.
In August 2002, MAS moved into a new office and 15,000 ft2 shop located in the Shenango Industrial Park just outside New Castle, PA. We have easy access from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 79 an 80.
We manufacture fans from 8” diameter up to
150” diameter in 5-ton and 10-ton capacity bays having up to 20 ft under hook.
This is a fully equipped fabricating facilities with access to all necessary fabricating
and machining needs. Our state of the art plasma burning table with
oxy/acetylene has an adjustable water level and cut alloy and stainless thru
1" thick and carbon steel thru 4" thick. The air scribe and arc writer
allow us to accurately layout details on burned parts and code our
materials. Press brake, 1/2” shear, heavy
duty power rolls, dynamic balancers, laser alignment and portable balancer, sand blasting
equipment along with all the related welding and forming equipment round out the
inventory of equipment available.
Our company has access to the specialized equipment
and means of testing required to properly manufacture fans.
All MAS wheel and shaft assemblies are statically and dynamically
balanced to very strict tolerances before leaving our shop.
Direct coupled units that can be shipped assembled are laser-aligned in our
shop. When specified, assembled fans compatible with our VFD power supply are
test run to check for bearing temperature and vibration.
MAS follows a custom in-house Quality Control program
proven efficient through years of experience and which has been approved by many MAS customer
inspectors. We
have AWS D14.6 certified welders and
documented weld procedures that are used on all MAS fans, not just when
specified by customers. NDT checks such as
dye penetrant, mag particle, x-ray, ultrasonic and Helium mass spectrometer leak
tests are routinely performed by both in-house personnel and independent testing
services. Fans are constructed from
mild steel, high strength alloy steels, aluminum, 300 series stainless steels,
inconel and incoloy, hastalloy, titanium and most exotic alloys.
Special paints and coatings like rubber lining and epoxy are
no problem for MAS.
Our shop runs two or three shifts as the workload
dictates or extended overtime when shipping schedules demand.
Our truck can provide pickup and delivery service within the local
tri-state area. We use several
local trucking companies that provide very quick deliveries anywhere in the
country.
MAS
offers a full service Field Service Department for fan startup and trouble
shooting through our Pittsburgh service group and a nationwide network of
contract shops. This allows us to
have access to state of the art equipment for in field alignment, balancing and
analysis. These companies have
personnel with years of field training combined with specialized schooling to
keep up to date on the latest techniques and can assist our customers with MAS
or any competitors fan. This
provides an advantage to our customer in we provide quality service at reduced
cost by minimizing travel time and getting men on site faster.
All MAS fans are computer selected and designed for
proper air performance, material strength safety factors, shaft critical speed,
bearing speed, load and life limits and a number of other critical design
factors. Standard engineering
procedures indicate if shop NDT checks are required, shake tests or finite
element analysis. Our computer
setup offers performance curve plotting, sound data, CAD drawings and word
processing for timely quotes. All
MAS fans are drawn full scale on CAD compatible format for use as plasma
burnouts, which insure accurate components.
Our primary interest is in NEW CUSTOM FANS AND REPAIR
work in the Industrial Market. The
majority of this will be induced draft, forced draft, high temperature and process air fans, both
SWSI and DWDI in sizes between 30” and 120” diameter.
The fan blade designs available are a full range of radial, radial tip,
airfoil, backward curve, and backward inclined, forward curve and axial.
MAS high temperature fans use axial wheel designs, paddle type and FC. All MAS fan designs have been tested in accordance with AMCA
guidelines.
Even though we are a custom fan company, we offer
several of the standard fan lines including an Industrial Exhauster (IE),
Pressure Blower (PB), Airfoil/Backward Curve and Backward Inclined.
The reason for offering standard line fans is that many times the so called
standard fan becomes a custom requirement because a special size is needed,
alloy construction, high temperature requirements, non-catalog performance, DWDI, inlet boxes, gas tight construction, to name a few options.
In short, if it is feasible, then we will engineer a fan to match our
customer’s requirement.
MAS private labels a complete pressure blower line
for several OEM customers. This
will be built into a computer database that will allow us to publish catalog data
to expand our standard fan lines and private label market.
We provide complete units including drives, dampers,
damper operators, guards or any accessory required. In addition we will provide ductwork and other custom
fabrication needed in an air moving system.
We fabricate dampers and all specialty fabrications in our shop, which
allows us to control quality and schedules.
Deliveries are tailored to customer schedules.
MAS has the flexibility to repair or rebuild any fan
manufacturers equipment. Our
trained personnel can field measure a fan or we can arrange to have a unit sent
to our shop for duplication, and in turn provide completed assembly drawings to
our customer. When rebuilding or
repairing, fans can be upgraded for higher capacity, improves efficiency or longer
life for erosion or corrosion.
